Dress your wall

Do not let your walls stay bare

You have thousands of photographs and about four square metres of empty plaster. Try the arrangement here, on a picture of your own wall, at real size — then we will print it, frame it and send it ready to hang.

Add a photograph of your wall to see it in place

1 · Your wall

Taken straight on, from a few steps back, works best. The picture stays in your browser — it is never sent to us or to anybody else.

2 · How wide is it?

This is what makes the preview honest. Measure the wall, or the sofa under it, and everything above scales to real centimetres.

3 · Arrangement

4 · Frame

Drag the arrangement to position it, or focus it and use the arrow keys.

Send this to us

We will design the pictures into it for free, then quote the frames.

Why bother

A photograph on a wall is seen. One on a phone is scrolled past.

The pictures you love most are, statistically, in a folder. A framed print is the only format that gets looked at without anybody deciding to look at it — it is simply there, every morning, on the way to the kettle.

It also does something a book cannot: it changes the room. A wall with three well-placed frames reads as somebody's home rather than as accommodation. That is worth more than the frames cost.

And you do not have to choose the pictures. Send us the gallery and we will propose what goes where, the same way we lay out an album — free, and before you commit to anything.

Three ways to frame

Real wood, and a print worth putting behind glass

The moulding is the smaller half of the decision. What goes inside it decides how the picture reads from across the room.

An oak frame with a wide mat around a photograph

Matted

A traditional mount: acid-free board with a hand-cut 45° bevel around the picture. It gives the photograph room to be looked at and keeps the print surface off the glass.

A hand-torn deckled print mounted inside a wide rustic wooden frame

Deckled

A cotton rag print with the edge torn by hand, sitting inside the mount opening rather than under it, so the whole feathered border stays visible. No two are torn the same.

A dark wood frame with a photograph appearing to float inside it

Floating

No mat and no visible mounting — the print appears to hang in the middle of the frame with air on every side. The contemporary option, and the one that suits a full-bleed photograph.

Practical things

  • Ready to hang. Wired or with hanging hardware fitted, and a paper template for the wall so you drill once.
  • Acrylic, not glass, on anything large or anything that will be passed around a room. Lighter, and it does not shatter.
  • Shipping, duties and taxes are included — see how we send things.
  • Frames are quoted case by case for now, because size, mount and glazing move the number a long way. Send us the arrangement above and you will have a figure in writing.
